Even if they do not, there are a number of free, safe software available that can be downloaded and used. However, there are many software options that can bought as well which provide with better security. It is advised that if you are an average user without any high security data to secure, regular free antivirus will do the trick.
  2. 2.Steer clear of fishy websites – while you are web surfing, you will often come across pop ups or other enticing websites that will really coax you into opening them. Resist the temptation. There is a very good possibility that these websites will lead to a virus.
  3. 3.Do not download software with unknown publisher – you may need a professional recorder but do not want to spend on it so you settle on a free software that looks appealing. If you do not know of a person who has already downloaded it, do not take the chances if the publisher is unknown. You may be downloading a virus right into your computer.
  4. 4.Keep all software updated – an older version of software can easily become prone to viruses. Thus, it is advised that you update it regularly. It is preferable to uninstall any software that you do not use instead of keeping an older version. This is good for your safety and will also keep your hard drive free from being overcrowded.
  5. 5.Do not use pirated windows/software - you should always buy software and/or windows instead of cracking it and installing a pirated version. Pirated versions cannot be updated and hence, can be cause for concern. Like mentioned before, older versions can also become a nuisance and attract viruses.
  6. 6.Use USBs sparingly – if it is your USB, then it is safe. But if you are using someone else’s USB or your USB was used in someone else’s laptop, always run a scan before using it. This will ensure that your computer does not contract any virus that the USB is carrying from someone else’s computer.

Keep the above tips in mind if you want to make sure that your computer is clean at all times and safe from all the viruses and bugs.
